Have yourself a TJ Christmas 2009

Hi all! Last year as you know we had a holiday thread where we talked about what we were doing over the festive season, what traditions are part of our respective celebrations for Christmas, New Year, Hanukkah, Eid, whatever - and whether there were any favourite thoughts, quotations or poetry that might make the time special for you. I'm starting this up again this year and hope it will be as interesting and fun as last time. When I get back from the Cologne Christmas market this is where I'll be telling you all about it.
Here's a poem for you all, call it a Christmas card for the TJ board.

Tonight seems to be a good night to tell what I am doing the next couple of days...
Well tonight being Christmas Eve here in Denmark and on this night we enjoy spending time with our love ones company with great food and prensents later on.
In Denmark it's customs to exchange gifts on Christmas Eve some hours enjoying a great feast - roasted pork, duck, goose or Turkey with potatoes in various forms, sauce, chips etc and rice pudding - all various on each family's traditions.
In my family we have duck and rice pudding later for dessert.. and who ever find the almond in the pudding gets a presents.. and this year it cannot be my brother who gets it - hallaluja... just kidding. Although I miss him right now - he's spending Christmas with his inlaws this year..
Tomorrow I am going back to my parents with my brother and sisterinlaw for coffee - besides that I am going to relax..
But on Saturday (2nd Christmas day) the whole family is getting together for the annual Bowling tournament/Christmas lunch - it's really just the family on my father's side.. but it's fun..
Hopefully I won't bring home the trophy again - it's a bowling pin! not a pretty thing to show in your living room.. but what the heck..
It has just been annouced that for the first time in 14 years Denmark has what we call a White Christmas - 80 % of the country is covered in snow.. It's cozy!!
Must end this now.. my parents are yelling at me for me to help.. don't want to but I better - or no presents..
Can't wait to hear how you spend Christmas..

Hi! Yesterday we were in church in the afternoon and then had dinner together with the family.
Today I should be at my parents having lunch together, but I did not feel so well. So I will go tomorrow.
All really nice an quiet.
I wish you all a wonderful Christmas!

Christmas has flown by so quickly this year! We tend to have a quiet one with just the immediate family, partly because our relatives are at some distance; but mainly because being all together is a rare treat now that son no.1 is working in France for a year before he returns to complete his degree. The boys get up at a much more civilised hour now, but we still all go down together to open the presents under the tree. When that's done we have a quick breakfast and then I go off to sing at the morning church service, having already sung the Midnight service earlier in the day. The Midnight is atmospheric, but the Christmas day service is a much smaller affair and fewer of the choir turn up. My family all come to this service (the boys also come to the children's Christingle service on Christmas Eve at 6pm) and this year it was quite nice that they did because I sang loads of solos thanks to some people being away ill. They were impressed! Afterwards we went round to the neighbours' to drink champagne and socialise before the Christmas dinner.
My husband is the cook in the house but I do help prepare the meal. This is the only time of year I can indulge in delicious sprouts because no-one else likes them. They are my Christmas treat. This year lots of people contributed to our Christmas feast. Our lovely neighbour made us a wonderful Christmas pudding and a good friend made our Christmas cake for us. Yum! I've eaten too much yet again...

I don't know if I was a member yet when you were working through your thesis, but I am now!! And, if you ever have those darn nightmares just hit me up! I'm a pretty fun jokester, If I may say so myself

Are you sure you put this into the right thread? It doesn't sound Christmassy! Get back to us if you intended it elsewhere!
