I understand what you are saying yes. Everything all seems to appear a bit jumbled for me. Might just be my eyes though.

I see what you meant now, sorry, I am occasionally somewhat thick when I've been out of my place of work for a week - the thinking mechanism grinds to a halt. 
When I started up as a mod here a year and a bit ago now, my main concern was to create a friendly, warm, interactive, democratic and dynamic community while retaining a balance between the sections revolving round us and the obviously and rightly dominant TJ bits. The Welcome forum is the home for most of the 'us-focused' bits, which is why it contains the intro thread plus the other 2 I mentioned. If you do think at any stage that we could do with another thread for general chat, by all means make one - but keep it in the Welcome forum.
You'll realise by now that the creation of a friendly, lively, caring, democratic etc. community was remarkably easy, you just have to look at the membership to see that...

If you hadn't noticed, I'm spending time today checking that everyone knows what they can contribute to (please ignore that appalling grammar). This is the one for suggestions. Anyone thinks of anything they want done on the boards or the site, tell us here and we'll do our best to sort it for you. If you have time to glance through these posts you'll see that LOADS of what we wanted has come to fruition.So stand up & make a noise if you'd like to see something new! This is where the chatbox and avatar permissions and a decent smiley selection came from, and also great main site ideas!

But seriously, I appreciate all the hard work in keeping a site like this running smoothly. The one thing I would prefer (and please don't take this as criticism) is a switch from the black background with white text, as I find it much harder to read. Just a plain old white or off white with black text would suit me just fine.

Well, yes, but you'll just have to believe me when I say that is something that is not in our control right now.

In the future, if it appears to be possbile
Black background with white text is really not comfortable to read.
