I stopped reading TWOP's Bones forum after getting shot down one too many times. There are a handful of Hodgins fans who post, but the majority seem to be anti-Jack&Angela and full of venom for Cam (who I happen to like).
I didn't even know there was a Bones forum on TWoP. I thought once they stopped doing regular recaps for Bones, they put all of it on 'permanent hiatus' (the recaps and any potential forum/discussion threads for the show).
Regardless, I'm a little surprised to hear about such venom for Cam. Obviously I still have most of season 2 to watch on DVD before I'm fully caught up, but from the episodes I've seen, I haven't received nearly enough information about Cam in order to make that kind of estimation about her. I'm guessing they just don't like her because she's getting in the way of the Booth and Brennan connection.
I have to hand it to Tamara Taylor, coming in as she did in the middle of a show, playing a character that viewers might object to simply because she's a threat or an obstacle for Brennan. She just keeps smiling and doing her job, and a good job at that.
I swear, she already had to go through a similar experience when she was on Party of Five. She came in as a character for Matthew Fox's 'Charlie,' incurring the viewers' wrath because they wanted him to get back together with Kirsten. Personally, I thought she did a wonderful job with her character, and at the time remember thinking she was a beautiful woman playing an interesting part. And they did make her an interesting character, at first. Until they altered their take on her, in order to get rid of her character so that Charlie
could get back together with Kirsten after all. As soon as they had her character say she didn't like kids, I knew she was a goner. Of course Charlie would dump her after that -- he's a young man with the responsibility of taking care of his four other siblings! *sigh* It would have been nice if the writers had found a different, more original, less obvious way for their characters to break up. I always felt bad for Tamara -- that position could not have been easy to play, knowing full well that once she said it, she'd be off the show soon after. The woman's a pro.
