*sneaks in very, very belatedly*

Hi, everybody!! Is there any food left? I'm thirsty! What's happening? Crank up the music and stay a little while with me, will ya?

Hello to Lonia, Consuelo, Hansio, Sundy and Jane! And any and all newcomers to TJ's site whom I may have missed in my lateness!

Also… :greetings-wavingyellow: *waves wildly at Sharon, Steph, Simone, Sofi, Kathleen, Stephanie, and Tara*

Cyber hugs all around! :romance-grouphug:

I know there's such a thing as 'fashionably late' but I'm afraid my timing has been more like 'terribly delayed.' Sorry, all! And greatest apologies to the birthday boy himself. I've been thinking about you all throughout the day, and hoped I would manage to make it for at least a little while.

At any rate, I love how festive you've made TJ’s birthday. Fantastic partying! I salute you, wild and crazy singing and all! *BIG GRIN*

And Steph, I cannot wait to hear all about your super special secret birthday event. I hope you had the most amazing time celebrating. *hugs*

Okay, let me catch up just a little bit.

Music?

Well, in my opinion, the best song by Portishead is the sexy, sensual "Glory Box." It's got an unusual sound, and like I said, verrrry sexy.

:romance-lovegoddess:

What do I want to hear? Hmm... so many kick ass musical choices out there! Well, since I'm late, it's more than a little too late for Pink's "Get The Party Started" (heh), so how about "Feeling Good"? Originally sung by the lovely Nina Simone, but tonight I think I'll play the version as performed by Muse, since I've heard TJ's a fan. GREAT song.

(And it may amuse Simone, as she might happen to know that they used that song during the credits of one of the Doctor Who Confidential segments in a really effective way. Sure got my attention, and I love that!)

My gift for TJ? Well... I have to say, he's really challenging to shop for, since we've never actually had a personal conversation about what he might be wishing for, for his birthday. ;) I had to go out on a limb, so to speak.

I present to him a serenely beautiful, exquisitely scenic walking path, shaded by tall, lush tress, brightened by the most vibrant flowers and a glorious full moon, and embraced by the most lovely breeze. This path will lead him wherever he wants to go, secluded for his privacy so he may take whomever he chooses, for a sentimental, romantic evening -- there may be a candlelit section of path, if he so desires, and even a hand-carved wooden swing, gently moving in the breeze, suspended by two sturdy trees. And of course over the back of the swing I placed a cozy blanket for two, to cuddle up and stay warm. :D

Refreshments are included. (LOL)

That's the best I could come up with, TJ. I hope you get the opportunity to enjoy it with someone special. And I really hope you had the most marvelous day.

A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! :occasion-candle:

Sending a warm hug and all my best,
Sherry

*pops back in to laugh at Sharon's antics*

:D

Hi, Sharon! Yes, I believe that Frankie Valli song is spelled the same way that I spell my name. "Sherry." And you can bet I've heard it a few times, sung at me in jest. That's okay... I don't mind, it's a good song. (Heee.)

And like I said in the IM box, anyone who can belt out 'Viva Las Vegas' clearly has no 'shell' to break out of. Heh hehhh. You go, girl! Shake it like you mean it!

Okay, I said maybe I'd sing a Beatles tune. Which I've actually never done before. When I do karaoke -- and my goodness, has it ever been a while since I've done that -- I usually sing Olivia Newton-John's "Let Me Be There." And that's as country as I'll ever get, Sharon. :D

But I like the lyrics to this particular Beatles song, so ... here you go:

"There's nothing you can do that can't be done
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game
It's easy.
There's nothing you can make that can't be made
No one you can save that can't be saved
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you
in time - it's easy.

All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love,
Love is all you need.

Love, love, love,
Love, love, love,
Love, love, love.

All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love,
Love is all you need.

There's nothing you can know that isn't known
Nothing you can see that isn't shown
Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be
It's easy.

All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love,
Love is all you need.

All you need is love (all together now)
All you need is love (everybody)
All you need is love, love,
Love is all you need."

Me too, Sharon! Me, too. *smiles fondly*

All right, it is so late here. I'm twirling a few more times around the dance floor in my pretty party dress (red -- yeah, baby), and then I'm off like Cinderella! :D

Thank you, Steph and Sharon for putting this all together and giving everyone a fun place to congregate and celebrate TJ's birthday. You did an amazing job. Especially love the decorations!

And like Sharon says, I hope we see all the new members and the happy lurkers pop in again sometime soon. Join us in conversation. You can obviously see how much fun we have, and we really enjoy knowing who's out there and what you enjoy about TJ's work and of course the man himself.

Hope to talk with you again sometime. Sweet dreams to you all. And Happy Birthday, TJ!

Love!

Oh that's kind. People in before me with bin bags. I do appreciate that; oh, you've even sorted the recycling bins! Thanks Lonia, you're a star! Good singer too from what I hear.

OK. It was mostly paper plates but the glasses definitely need a proper sparkly wash (thanks heavens for our spanking new dishwasher). And I'll need to run a cloth over these surfaces and check the floor. And I forgot the fancy dress stuff - that can go into the machine I think, mine has fallen victim to a drop of red wine there, but it won't stain. Being that it's not real and all.

Ugh. What's this behind the sofa cushions? Squashed crisps! Not nice. The carpet is sticky here and there too, not as bad as in a cinema (!) but some of it needs a good scrub. Too much Coke here!

I see the music has all been put away neatly. Thanks for that, whoever it was. The tub is empty...no it isn't! One small package at the bottom...with my name on it! I forgot to get mine! *scrambling to tug at the sticky tape and strip off the pretty paper* Ah here it is - oh wow. It's the best 50th birthday celebration ever. I didn't actually need to open it, it's been with me the whole time..

Three amazing things (apart from you guys) have happened to me over the last couple of days. Son no.1 has come back from uni for the weekend especially for me. My sister has travelled all the way from the south - I hardly ever see her - last time was last summer - to be at my celebrations. And my husband has somehow managed to hide from me preparations for a massive party that have been going on for two months! There were hundreds of people there! Choir people, choral society people, singing teacher people, son no.2's footie team people, work colleagues and a big representation of the powerful matriarchy which is hubby's extended family. I cannot tell you how stunned and moved I was. Wow! Danced all evening, too, like you lot, if truth be told. Give me 'Rock DJ', 'Dancing Queen' and a dose of 'Man, I Feel Like A Woman' and I'm a contented and happy girl. Hey, how come none of you did Shania Twain? Forgotten the commercial or something? :)

When I came home (about 12.30) I had to run away after a brief call in here, not just because of the continuing celebrations, not just to talk to my sister, but also to store vast portions of leftover food and open an Everest of the most gorgeous presents. My brother-in-law had put together a booklet of photos of my 'early years'. It was that, and a set of DVDs one of my church friends had put together of most of the existing footage of me and the church choir, which probably moved me the most. But there were also loads of beautiful and expensive jewellery, pens, champagne, books, CDs and extraordinary original ideas like a set of pan pipes, windchimes, an exquisite crystal paperweight and a sturdy and extremely pretty biscuit barrel! Some work colleagues had also got together to buy me half a day's pampering at a local beauty salon - sauna, massage, the works! Simone might be interested to hear I also received the DVD of the Doctor Who Christmas special and a biography of David Tennant. Oh - and an incredible Steiff limited issue teddy from the man who in his speech touchingly described me as the love of his life. What can you say about people like that? It makes me feel very humbled to know I have them in my life and that they care so much.

I was up till 5 am and still have schoolwork to finish off now my sister has departed. But it'll get done. This weekend has given me some perspective!

Thanks to all you guys for responding fantastically to TJ's party and enjoying yourselves socialising. Delighted to see some new members on the boards! Heartfelt thanks, Sharon, for all the support and help keeping things going. And thanks of course to TJ for making sure to turn up despite being in a hurry. Viva Las Vegas!

Steph, really happy for you that you had such a great party. And yes, the DW Christmas Special is on my list, too.

Sharon, why didn't WE think of singing Shania? But we had so much fun singing "Viva Las Vegas"!

It was really fun! Even though when I told people I got that look. You know, like they say: 'you wanna do what???' Well, who cares! I had a great time! Thanks again! :romance-smileyheart:

Wow, Steph, the place looks great again. Good job! Ready for the next party! :)
