TJ Answers a Question About Traveling

Bonesaddict11 (Dohee): If you could take a vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be? And with whom? Coke or Pepsi products?

TJ: Hello Dohee!

Oooooo a question right up my alley! I LOVE LOVE LOVE to travel! I’ve been getting that itchy need to jet-set again soon! I didn’t get to travel outside the US when I was a kid. We didn’t have much money as a family, and we made do with where we could get to that the station wagon (that all 8 of us squeezed into) could get us to. When I was in college, my Mom flew to Africa for a charity event (amazing) and my Dad and she decided to let me go meet my mom in the one place I had always wanted to visit when she was finished and on her way back: LONDON!!! And I went! For 5 days! I dragged my poor Mom to every RSC performance I could find, and bought out half of Samuel French Bookstore, and toured Bath and Oxford, and all over London, RADA and BADA, and on. I was in heaven! I made a deal with myself at that moment. That I would next take a trip to Europe if/when I had done 3 feature films and felt I had the semblance of a career. The trip to London with Mom became somewhat of a goal for me, to get to the place in life where I could afford to do this. And so, many years later (many), I found myself (after HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS, and ERIN BROCKOVICH,and LOVE HER MADLY, and WHAT WOMEN WANT, and FRIENDS, and DHARMA & GREG, and HOME IMPROVEMENT, and KENAN and KEL, and I don’t remember what else)…my sister Katie (who had moved to Italy with her husband for a year) invited me out, and I thought…wow! I can actually go! I met my goal! SO off I went through all of Italy and Switzerland and France!!! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! I am so beyond in love with France and Switzerland, oh man! And Italy, please! How incredible! Ahhhh, what life is supposed to be!!! Glorious! Then, I was off to the Caribbean and Hawaii…Several years ago, after a big breakup that crushed me, I called a buddy and said “I gotta get out of here, as far as possible”. So we planned a trip around Europe, but I wanted to go where I hadn’t gone before. So we mapped out an amazing itinerary of places to go, and oh what fun we had!! AMSTERDAM, SWEDEN (Stockholm, which is so beyond stunning! The people and the city! I loved it there so much, would rush back if I could!) and POLAND (that was cool! Warsaw!) and ROMANIA! Yes, Romania! I’m a big fan of Vampires, hahaha, so had to see Dracula’s castle in Braun. WE spent 5 days in Romania. Crazy. Very cool though! Then we changed courses and trips and headed to SPAIN! Ahhhh, Spain! Barcelona! Then off to IBIZA for 4 days, that was amazing. Then back to Barcelona, then home. An incredible trip! Two years ago, I set my eyes on Asia and grabbed my kid sister Shelly and off we went to Tokyo and Hong Kong. Next to New York City and before Stockholm, Tokyo easily sits as my favorite city! I so loved it there! Would go back in a heartbeat! Then ran back this past Christmas to another island in Hawaii I’d not been to. I’ve been very fortunate to travel as much as I have in the last decade of my life, but I have no intention of stopping anytime soon!!!!! I want to see EVERYWHERE and meet EVERYONE!!!! There is so much of Europe I still need to see and have my heart on one day getting to: Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Prague, Germany, Russia, Thailand (and all of southeast Asia), New Zealand and Australia! Oh and so so many more places! My next stop…honestly…I think it’s back to Europe to hit a few of the places I just mentioned (and I’ve gotta get back to London!); the problem is I don’t know with my schedule when I can go, as well our little ol’ dollar doesn’t do too well over there right now…but we’ll see. Otherwise, southeast Asia! You tell me, where should I go?! Where in the world would YOU all go? And where have you been that you feel I must see?!

🙂 TJ

PS: My dad worked for Pepsi Cola for the majority of my life ground up. That fuzzy carbonation is what put me through high school and into college, and though I’m not a cola drinker at all (I barely drink soda, but if and when I do, I’m all about ROOT BEER and CREAM SODA, mmmmmm!!! The occasional Dr. Pepper or orange Fanta as well), being that Coke was a four-letter-word in our house, I’m going with Pepsi all the way! One of my childhood memories was of a Pepsi Machine we had at our house that you could press and get a soda for free! Made me feel like Tom Hanks in BIG.
